3 Day Refresh: Day 3 and Final Results!

I started this morning the same as before. I hesitantly got onto the evil scale and to my surprise: -2.8 pounds! Holy crap, that was a great way to start off the day.

Meals were pretty much the same, although this time I remembered to chug that fiber sweep like a college kid at a keg party. Ahh, college days paying off in more ways than one. The fiber sweep was much more tolerable this time around. The first day I blended it in ice because I read it on a blog somewhere and it wasn’t terrible.. but kind of grainy. Looking back though, I would either use the blender or chug chug chug. If you blend it you don’t have to worry about it morphing into something like an alien foreign substance. I think I’d still drink it fast just to get it done and over with.

I skipped my afternoon snack because I honestly forgot! How does that happen when you are consuming less than 1000 calories? Probably because my lunchtime I had reached my fiber goal for the day. But I really wasn’t hungry and that was just insane to think about.

F I N A L    R E S U L T S

This morning, after Day 3 I weighed myself and was down another pound. So in total I lost 4.8 pounds in 3 days. Not too shabby. It definitely has motivated me to stay on track. As far as energy goes, I kind of feel the same really. Then again, I have a toddler so I’m not sure if that’s a fair assessment. Overall, I think it’s a good program if you need to kick start your workout/diet or if you need a little motivation. I honestly had no gas or unpleasant issues, but I was eating healthy for a while and slacked off 2 weeks then got on this program. So I’m not sure how it would work for others but I’m confident that the results would be worth the effort.

3 Day Refresh: Day 1


Following my previous post, I was unsuccessful in keeping up the momentum with a 2nd round of the 21 Day Fix. So I thought that the 3 Day Refresh would be a great way to kick start another round of the fix since I kind of neglected my portioning for the last 2 weeks.

The 3 Day Refresh is a program from BeachBody. The website says this about the product:

“In just 3 short days, you can get your health, energy, and vitality back on track—all without starving. You’ll conquer your cravings. Get a flatter belly. Feel lighter and more energized. And your clothes will fit better. The Complete Kit comes with 3 packets of Shakeology®—your choice of 6 flavors (we recommend Chocolate Vegan or Tropical Strawberry Vegan because plant-based proteins are often easier for the body to digest), 6 packets of Vanilla Fresh (high-protein shake), 3 packets of Fiber Sweep (digestive health drink), and 1 Program Guide.”

You start your day with drinking a full glass of filtered water and then within an hour of waking you will have your daily Shakeology and a serving of fruit (the fruit can be mixed in or eaten separately).

An hour after that you can have herbal tea but it is optional. They recommend you drink lots of water during the day.

Then an hour after that (or after breakfast if you skipped the tea break) you take the fiber sweep mixed in with 10 oz of water.

An hour after that you have lunch! One Vanilla Fresh shake, a serving of fruit, vegetable and healthy fat.

Then an hour later you have an afternoon snack (vegetable and healthy fat).

Then dinner (there are several options to choose from and they all consist of vegetables and broth (optional). And you have a Vanilla Fresh shake with dinner as well.

So that’s the program in a nutshell. My first day went okay. Shakeology has always been effective in curbing my appetite and suppressing cravings. I got the chocolate vegan formula and it tastes a little bit richer than the regular chocolate (at least that’s my first impression).

I was not looking forward to the Fiber Sweep at all. I was such a baby about it; I opened the packet, poured it in the glass of water and smelled it. Ugh, why did I do that? However, upon tasting it, it really wasn’t terrible. It kind of had an herbal tea- lemony chamomile taste to it. I wouldn’t drink it all of the time but it still wasn’t like spooning cod liver oil down your throat.

Lunch was simple: Vanilla Fresh, 1/2 an apple, celery and hummus.

I had a craving for hummus so I had celery and hummus for my snack too.

Then for dinner I had Veggie Stir Fry. Green beans, carrots, and red bell pepper cooked with grated ginger and garlic with olive oil and salt. It was definitely not the “hearty dinner” I felt that I deserved after the small amount of eating I did for the day but I didn’t feel famished or really hungry so it was just what I needed.

I did cheat though. I was shopping at the grocery store and I had a cookie that they were sampling in the bakery. I hadn’t had my snack yet and it had been a couple hours since lunch and I was weak. Even counting that into my eating, I had 909 calories for the day.

In case you are wondering if I had any ill effects from the Fiber Sweep, the answer is no. The program guide cautions that some people may feel bloated for the first couple of days and be gassy but I had nothing like that. I did have to go to the bathroom shortly after lunch but it wasn’t urgent and it wasn’t like how a laxative would have you feel. This is an increase of fiber, a nutrient your body needs. The Fiber Sweep just gives your body more fiber, that’s it.
